Pastor Jeremy Henson shares a valuable lesson he learned from piano teacher Miss Marsha. When her student Michael would get stuck playing the wrong notes, Miss Marsha would calmly tell him, “Go back to what you know.”
Pastor Jeremy explains how this simple advice applies to our lives when we feel overwhelmed by fear, anxiety, stress, or confusion. Just as a disoriented pilot needs to reorient themselves to the horizon, we must return to the truths we know about God and His promises.
Drawing from Scripture, Pastor Jeremy encourages the congregation to keep their eyes fixed on Jesus and to go back to passages like the 23rd Psalm, the Lord’s Prayer, and Philippians 4 when life gets chaotic. He challenges everyone to write down a key verse on a note card and refer to it daily as a reminder of what they know to be true.
